Sport Unit San Fernando

It´s located in the San Fernando neighborhood in Cali, between Carreras 34 and 36 with Calles 5A and 5B. In this sport unit there are three big venues: Alberto Galindo Herrera Swimming Pools, Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium and the Evangelista Mora Coliseum.

Alberto Galindo Herrara Olympic Swimming Pools

This facility was built in the land known nowadays as San Fernando neighborhood. That property was bought by the municipal governorship with the aim to construct the best venues -in that time- for the VII National Athletic Games of 1954.

These pools are composed of: one diving pool, with a depth of 5.50 meters for two diving boards of 1 and 3 meters, and three platforms of 5, 7 and 10 meters; one Olympic pool of 50 meters in length, 8 lanes and 2 meters of depth; one underwater pool of 18 per 13 meters, and 4.50 meters in depth. The group of pools has an area of 16.451 square meters and a capacity to host 2.000 people.

The Alberto Galindo Swimming Pools were renewed for the VXII National Games in 2008, restoring the infrastructure to improve its aspect and functionality. There was also built a pool for underwater activities and reinforcement of its seismic-resistant structure.

The venue has administrative offices, basement, dressing rooms, and cafeteria for spectators and swimmers. On the second floor there are Taekwondo and Hapkido facilities; their league operate in this scenario also with diving clubs, synchronized swim and underwater hockey leagues.

For The World Games 2013, the Alberto Galindo swimming pools will be the host for the Canoe Polo teams, during their trainings.
