EL INGENIO PARK

In the southern part of Cali, along the buffer strip of the Melendez River, a large, green lung can be found.  This is the 'Parque El Ingenio', an area of over 18,000 square meters, which has become a meeting point for families and friends looking for a place for recreation and leisure.

The lands that are part of this park belonged to the builder Melendez, a company that for many years did not raise any infrastructure on them. This allowed the inhabitants of the surroundings to gradually take ownership of the space, making it a place for sports and recreation.

In 2011, the builder gave up their land in exchange for a tax exemption, complying with the objective that the park remained a public space.  That same year, renovations were made, which include the adequacy of sidewalks, walking trails, jogging track, and a “path of life”, comprising 20 stations for fitness with weights, bars, among other instruments.

Here, sports and open spaces fans can find a new outdoor gym proposal, which is integrated into an extensive jogging track.  In that same area, the weight room, children's play area, and the stimulation of motor skills area coexist. In addition, there's access through 4 parking plazas, playgrounds for children with disabilities, and internal Braille signaling.

Many young people come to the El Ingenio Park with their bikes, where they train and invent maneuvers through proper roads which are perfect for biking.

In addition to recreational activities, the park hosts a variety of typical Cali and Valle snacks, such as Cholados, empanadas, aborrajados, among others.

Duathlon and orienteering competitions will be held at this park.
